Bangalore, officially known as Bengaluru in Kannada, is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Revered as the Garden City and once referred to as a Pensioner’s Paradise, Bangalore is a vibrant, bustling metropolis located on the Deccan Plateau in the southeastern part of Karnataka. It is India's third-largest and one of the most dynamic cities, attracting expatriates from across the globe, thanks to the booming presence of multinational companies.

As a rapidly growing urban center, Bangalore is home to some of the country’s most prestigious colleges and research institutions, making it a hub for academic and technological innovation. The city hosts numerous public sector industries, as well as leading software companies, aerospace firms, telecommunications providers, and defense organizations.

Often called the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore holds the distinction of being the nation's largest IT exporter, driving technological advancements and economic growth. AIR

Bangalore is well-connected to major destinations worldwide through the Kempegowda International Airport, operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited, which commenced operations on May 24, 2008. Prior to this, the city was served by the old HAL Airport. Today, it is the fourth busiest airport in India in terms of passenger traffic and air traffic movements (ATMs), handling approximately 280 flights daily. Additionally, Kingfisher Airlines has its headquarters in Bangalore, further establishing the city as a key aviation hub.


RAIL

Bangalore falls under the South Western Railway Zone of Indian Railways. The city's primary railway stations, including Bangalore City Railway Station and Yeshwanthapur Junction, provide connectivity to various regions across the country. The city is well-linked by rail to several key cities in Karnataka and other major metros such as Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and more, facilitating easy travel for both commuters and tourists.


ROAD

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operates an extensive bus network that connects Bangalore to other parts of Karnataka as well as neighboring states. The city’s major bus terminals include the Kempegowda Bus Station (commonly known as Majestic), Shantinagar Bus Depot, and Shivajinagar Bus Depot, all of which serve as key transit points for both local and inter-state travelers


LOCAL TRANSPORT

Bangalore boasts an efficient rapid transit system known as Namma Metro, which greatly enhances the convenience of public transportation for residents. The metro network spans 42.3 km (26.3 miles) and consists of both elevated and underground lines, with 41 stations in total. The metro line connecting Sampige Road to the Peenya Industrial Area was inaugurated on March 1, 2014. Upon completion, the network is set to provide seamless connectivity between central Bangalore and the regions of Devanahalli and Chikaballapur, further improving the city's transport infrastructure.

Taxi services within Bangalore are available from multiple operators, providing flexible transport options for residents and visitors alike.

Additionally, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) offers a bus pass for frequent commuters, making travel more economical. BMTC operates both regular and air-conditioned luxury buses on major routes, enhancing comfort for passengers. The corporation also runs the Airport Transport Service, providing a convenient and direct link between the city and Kempegowda International Airport.

Bengaluru City University is a prominent state university located in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Established in 2017, it was formed following the trifurcation of Bangalore University.
